This is a pretty straight forward song about looking back at a time spent with a group of friends you no longer see. This song is more generic than the stuff I usually write, so I'm not really sure how I feel about it. My favorite part is Chuck Scott's guitar solo. It's very much a 1990s song, whereas a lot of Manchester was either reaching back to the 80s or earlier to more 70s folk art rock.

I saw it again,
a vague remembrance of them.
As we get further from the past,
I always knew it wouldn't last.

It doesn't matter much to me.
I didn't really like them in the end
but there was a time back then I know
when I'd have been sad to see them go.

Never go back there again
Maybe alone but never
Never go back there again.

It was a summer in my youth.
We were together all the time
getting wrecked in the back yard
leaving all this wasn't hard.

And I forget the way they look.
Somewhere I have a photograph
buried in an ancient pile
we're together with a smile.

Never go back there again
Maybe alone but never
Never go back there again.

We went running through the fields.
We were screaming, we were fools.
We were young and so naïve
that in our friendship we believed.

Never go back there again
Maybe alone but never
Never go back there again.
