 Thanks But No Thanks

"Thanks but no thanks," is sort of what she said
What she meant was maybe if every other man was dead
"Thanks but no thanks, it's not you, no it's me"
What she meant was total complete antipathy

I tried to ask her out but my chances were bleak
She said, "there's too much going on this week"
I smiled and tried to look ahead with cheer
She said, she's going to be busy all this year
I really thought that for me she was made
But she said, "yeah it just won't be this decade"
I said, "we could just wait awhile and see"
She replied, "it won't be in this century"

"Thanks but no thanks, I've got to move along"
She meant she had an aversion that was strong
"Thanks but no thanks, it's me, no it's not you"
She meant almost anything else in this world she'd rather do

I asked her out, she said she'd let me know
She had to get home to wait there for Godot
I mentioned some café that we could try
She really wanted to go, but with some other guy
I said that it'd be good to make a plan
She informed me it'd be with some other man
I told her how I thought she was great
She said she had to go it's getting late

"Thanks but no thanks," yeah she was pretty clear
She meant that in this world there's not enough beer.
"Thanks but no thanks, I'm flattered, now go in peace"
She meant if I asked again she'd call the police

This is a somewhat humorous song about being harshly rejected by a crush.
